Summer Of Classics 2026

This summer, Cinema Akil invites you to step out of the Dubai heat and into the dark, where the screen becomes a portal to cinema’s most enduring stories. Our Summer of Classics 2026 program is a journey through the dualities of human nature, navigating the thin line between brilliance and madness, connection and isolation.

We jump straight into the deep end of the human mind, exploring everything from the layered dreamscapes of Inception to the chilling, calculated intellect of The Silence of the Lambs. We look at the dark sides of obsession and survival, whether it is through the ruthless underworld of Goodfellas or the gripping, mythic vengeance of Oldboy.

At the same time, this program explores cinema’s profound vulnerability, grief, and wit, showing us the fragile beauty of human connection. We trace the poetic ways that fate brings people together in Three Colours: Red, and the tender, unlikely intimacy born on the open road in Rain Man. We look back at the chaotic brilliance of flawed, larger-than-life cultural icons like in the documentary Diego Maradona, and trace the sharp memories of political upheaval and coming-of-age resilience rendered in the beautiful animation of Persepolis.

Spanning genres, eras, and continents, this summer’s curation isn’t just a celebration of film history, it is a collective reminder of the importance of watching these stories together.
