CINEMA AKIL’S SUMMER THROWBACK

This summer we invite you to travel through time in our biggest classics program yet! We’re throwing it back to the 1960s through the 1990s with some of the most iconic films that defined the era. From sci-fi, horror, mafia, romance – the program has it all. Catch your all time favorite and discover timeless classics on the big screen all summer long. Follow us into the dark.

Starting June 18 and running through September 25, the program is a treat for cinephiles and will screen superhit titles such as Psycho (1960) , Scarface (1983), Back to the Future (1985), Paris, Texas (1985) and Clueless (1995), among many others.

The diverse program will also showcase a variety of award-winning classic films from Italy, South Korea, Senegal, Germany and France in collaboration with the Italian Institute of Culture in Abu Dhabi, the Korean Cultural Centre in Abu Dhabi, the Goethe Institut and the Institute Français. The iconic program includes Tom Tikwer’s hit Run, Lola Run (1998), Korean thriller The Housemaid (1960) and Touki Bouki (1973) by Djibril Diop Mambéty referenced by Beyonce and Jay-Z in their On the Run II tour.
