Cine Mini

Cine Mini is Cinema Akil's ongoing programme for young audiences, screening every other weekend at Warehouse 68, Alserkal Avenue. Built on the belief that a love of cinema starts early, the programme brings together animation and family films from around the world, some newly released, others beloved classics returning to the big screen, each one chosen with children and their families in mind.

Twice a month, Saturday and Sunday sessions offer a mix of tender coming of age stories, adventurous fantasies, and quietly profound tales that speak to children without speaking down to them. The current lineup includes Little Amélie or the Character of Rain, an intimate portrait of a three year old's early wonder growing up in postwar Japan; Donia and the Princess of Aleppo, a gentle animated journey following a six year old displaced by war, guided by memory and imagination; Hayao Miyazaki's Ponyo, a shimmering tale of friendship and transformation by the sea; and Flow, the wordless, Academy Award winning fable of survival and companionship, alongside further titles added across the season.

Cine Mini isn't just about entertaining children, it's about introducing them, early and gently, to the wider world of storytelling: different languages, places, and ways of feeling, all through the shared ritual of watching together in the dark. Families are invited to make it a habit, one weekend at a time.
